The last few weeks have been nothing short of extraordinary, from travel, sporting events, and entertainment suspensions to shortages of consumer goods at the supermarkets. The uncertainty has had an impact on the capital markets, which have seen tremendous volatility, as we have seen the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed over 25% in a matter of a few weeks.
During times like these we must remain focused on long-term goals, strategy, and vision. It is easy to get distracted by the emotional impacts of significant market volatility and the corresponding impact such volatility may have on investment values. However, it is important to focus on the financial plans we have created together and with my counsel and direction, we should seek to remain calm and squarely concentrated on your financial goals. Your planning analytics factor for these types of markets.
As a quick update, changes have been underway regarding tax filing deadlines, and I expect that you will see national news on this eminently. Please work closely with your tax professional or legal consultant especially in light of current events and potential financial difficulties caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.
